cali academy...

Sorry for the lack of updated it's been a bit of an overload at the office lately, but that's a good thing right? We've been working extra hard the past couple of weeks trying to get the new site launched, and after weeks of shooting, editing, and categorizing photos the new site is finally up and running. One huge note about the site is the new SHOP section, which is a first for the Obey family. I never knew how much work really goes into getting all this stuff up and running, so I commend guys like Bart (530 MEDIA LAB) for having the patients to deal with first timers like ourselves. There are a few more additions to the site, but check them out for yourself here.

Anyway, this past weekend I made my way up to the Bay Area once again to handle a little business, and see some friends. I used to really like the drive up the 5, but since I've been going so frequently my like has slowly turned to loath. So come December I'm going to start flying again, even though not having a car is a bit of a bother the majority of the people I usually see are only a BART ride away, so hopefully it won't be too bad.

This trip was quick, and pretty low key. I was suppose to shoot a friends line, but conflicting schedules detoured that. I went to the newly designed California Academy of Sciences located in the Golden Gate Park.

The new Academy is a single structure but contains multiple venues, including the aquarium, the planetarium, the natural history museum and the 4-story rainforest. In addition, there's a new 3D theater, a lecture hall, a Naturalist Center, two restaurants, an adjacent garden and aviary, a roof terrace, and an Academy store.

The new building also houses the Academy science labs and administrative offices, including an extensive library and scientific archive consisting of more than 20 million specimens.

Here's a few flicks I wish I had a better lens :::hint hint:::, but gotta work with what yah got I suppose.

the end.
