i have the power recap...

As I mentioned a few posts ago this weekend the lady and I took a little trip to the Bay Area for my family reunion as well as my homie Josh's art show I Have the Power. I'll post the family reunion stuff (maybe) tomorrow.

After the family shindig the lady and I drove out to San Francisco to check out Josh's show at the Double Punch Gallery. We got there pretty early, so we decided to grab a quick bite to eat at this little Italian restaurant Piazza Pellegrini around the corner from the exhibit.

You wouldn't believe it, but this was taken around 8:45pm.

Just as we were finishing dinner Josh happen to walk up, so we chit chatted for a minute before heading over to the show. He told us that some one had already bought his piece. I was hoping to get it, but I'm sure there will be plenty to come.

We walked over to the show, and by this point it was packed. The exhibit was in the upstairs portion of Double Punch, so unfortunately with the tight spacing it was pretty hot. The show was a He-Man MOTU tribute, so each artist made their own rendition of a particular character. The show was a pretty good (despite the humidity), and there still a few pieces for sale, so check it out if you're in the city.

Josh's piece.

After the show we planned to hit up the Chico Brenes release party at Minna, but after driving around for about 40 minutes looking for park we decided to just head home for the evening.

the end.

Really lush takes on He-Man, your friend Josh made me laugh with the fat burger He-man. I also really like the 5th one down, I would have that in my house for sure.

Man, I would buy those two paintings at the bottom...shame they are $500 for the pair (they are TOTALLY worth the price, but my wife would kick my ASS :)

There's a pretty awesome baby He-man and Skeletor t-shirt here: http://www.shirtfight.com/shop/product/wee_man_and_the_masters_of_the_puny_verse/

Kinda fits in nicely with this gallery. Man I loved me some He-man as a kid :D
